PORT OF TARANTO


Business men, involved in the fields of transport, distribution and logistics in wider sense, have focused their attention on Taranto’s harbour, from some years; they aim, in a more intense way, to Jonico sea’s harbour, as a possible fly-wheel for the economic development of the territory, thanks to the geographic position in the heart of the Mediterranean, barycentric on the routes towards Gibilterra and the Suez Canal and to the wide availabilities of harbour and its back areas for new settings.
In particular, plans of productive setting, services plans and infrastructural plans have recently been proposed and started; they can find realization thanks to the synergy of political, institutional, social and entrepreneurial will and thanks to all the people that believe in the potentialities of the port of Taranto.
PROGECO, in combination with PROIND Srl, is engaged on this forehead, and it addresses to all national business men and international ones that are interested in setting in harbour’s areas or its back areas, or interested into the port of Taranto like logistic port for their own goodses.

SITTING PLANS

- LOGISTIC PLATFORM:
Logistic structure for shunting of goodses to the port. The contract has been assigned to the Ati (Temporary Association of Enterprises) composed from the chief manager “Gavio Logsystem”, of “Gavio group”, from “Grassetto” and from “Fincosit”. The Project will cost 156 million of euros and it would have to be realized in three years. The costs will be managed, for the greater part, by the Harbour Autority of Taranto (97 million euro); the remaining part, at last, will be covered with the financings of the “objective law” and the contribution of the same private companies that have introduced the plan.

- DISTRIPARK:
The Harbour Authority is associate, united to the Commune, the Chamber of Commerce and the Province of Taranto, with one Consortium Society - Distripark Taranto - constituted with the purpose to put in existence the necessary procedures to the realization of a Distripark, in a back harbour area close to the multi-fields Wharf.
The CIPE assigned in the month of January 2002 beyond 12.000.000 euros, to the Province of Taranto, for the realization of the Distripark. The presence of a similar structure for the distribution and the logistics, beyond the support to the acquisition of new marine traffics, will stimulate the setting and the co-existence of a plurality of logistics, transport and transformation enterprises (small workings, assemblage, packing, maintenance, and so on); on this way, they will be able to confer added value to the goods in input/output from Taranto’s harbour.
